The Advanced Diploma of Business course at Shafston is designed to further develop your expertise across a range of business functions.
Upon successful completion of the BSB60207 Advanced Diploma of Business [CRICOS CODE 076634D] graduates will also have gained a number of key employability skills that provide a platform for furthering your career in Business.
This course includes up to 25% online e-learning where students are encouraged to improve their ITC skills by accessing and participating in online e-learning. Students face-to-face delivery in the classroom is supported by interactive online content on the password protected Shafston Student Portal.

Develop and Implement a Business Plan: skills and knowledge required to run a business operation and covers the steps required to develop and implement a business plan. Business plans are critical tools for business growth and development. They will vary depending on the needs of the organisation. This unit covers the typical elements of a business plan and the standard approaches to be used in implementing a business plan.
Develop an Advertising Campaign: skills and knowledge required to determine key objectives and to develop an advertising campaign to optimise product or service market performance in response to an advertising brief. Defining campaign objectives, prepare an advertising budget and develop a schedule for proposed advertising activities are all covered in this unit.
Managing Human Resources Strategic Planning: skills and knowledge required to develop, implement and maintain a strategic approach to managing human resources in an organisation. Relates to the role of human resource managers or policy and planning staff with specific responsibility for ensuring that the organisation has the structure and staff to meet current and foreseeable business and performance objectives.
Managing Finances: skills and knowledge required to undertake budgeting, financial forecasting and reporting requirements, and to allocate and manage resources to achieve the required outputs for the business unit. It includes contributing to financial bids and estimates, allocating funds, managing budgets and reporting on financial activity. Learning includes planning for financial management, establishing budgets and allocating funds, implementing budgets and reporting on finances.

Graduates will also have upgraded academic standing and can use this qualification to meet entry requirements for higher education programs. Australian Universities award credit for VET studies completed at Diploma level and higher at an Australian Registered Training Organisation (RTO) which is approved to deliver the AQF Diploma and AQF Advanced Diploma. Credit points will vary depending on your University of choice. If you wish to apply for a programme of study with Shafston and an Australian University you simply apply to the University directly after receiving your Offer of a Place with Shafston for a Diploma level course or higher.

International student pre-requisites for Entry
English
An overall IELTS score of 5.5, TOEFL 183/513 or any other relevant and equivalent English proficiency score. Successful completion of one year full time secondary or tertiary study, where the language of instruction is English will also be accepted English proficiency can also be tested through the Shafston Internal Test of Academic English (ITAE) offered free of charge on either Shafston campus.
Academic
For entry to the Advanced Diploma of Business course applicants must have successfully completed a Diploma level qualification or equivalent in a similar field of study
Or relevant vocational work experience in the field. This is defined in the training package as:
- substantial vocational experience in a range of environments, acting in a range of senior support or technical roles
Students wishing to enrol directly into the Advanced Diploma of Business are requested to show they have the underpinning business knowledge for direct entry into this course.
Shafston’s recommended study pathway for candidates is first the successful completion of the Diploma of Business at Shafston or any other institution.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements
The required LL&N level for entry into this course is that of an AQF level 5 graduate. Characteristics of this level of client are the ability to apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, judgement and defined responsibility in known or changing contexts and within broad but established parameters. They will have technical and theoretical knowledge and concepts, with depth in some areas within a field of work and learning related to the Marketing and Business fields.
